About Me

I'm in the process of completly restoring a 1973 Glastron Bayflite V173.

At this point the hull has been completely redone with an additional layer of glass on the inside, the transom has been replaced with one comprised of layers of marine grade plywood and glass, it measures two inches in thickness, the need for such strength comes from the fact I plan on installing two new Mercury 60 HP fourstroke engines, which I have already purchased. Along with the glass work and engines the boat is next scheduled for a complete gelcoat in white hull with canary yellow with silver metel flake (lightly not over done.) The steering system will be upgraded to hydrolich (forgive missspell) and the steering wheel is three spoke chrome and white italian leather. August will see the boat getting the interior completely redone, with a new splash well then a faux tanning platform, intened to move the weight of passengers more toward the front of the boat, passenger seating will be a bench seat aft, and two bucket seats forward, changing from a six seat boat to four. The gas tank was fabricated from alumnium and the capacity increased from 18 to 30 gallons, and placed in the builge area between the new stringers, below it is space for builge water to migrate aft to the automatic builg pump. The instrumentation has been completely revamped with digital gauges from Mercury Marine which communicates with the twin engines, including GPS Nav and speed. I have my fingers crossed as the boat is not yet complete, and I have invested enough money to anger just about any spouse, so it better look and preform like a million bucks, or you might be seeing my next profile in the obits. Been working on it and it is now about 98 percent done.

About Me

Our family has owned several Switzers over the years. We still have 3 switzers in the family. Trident Marine on Honeoye Lake was the place to go to buy or try out new switzers back in the good old days. I will never forget those times.

About Me

Hi, I'm 56 years old and have spent most of my life in and around the lake.  I've owned a few boats over the years but I have recently gotten into the boat rebuilding bug.  I've been rebuilding old Honda motorcyles for the last few years so I thought I would try my hand at boats also.  I'm a glazier by trade but I take on all sorts of projects so I have a working knowlege about construction, electrical and motors.
