About Me

My dad purchased "The Busboy" new in 1958 -- a 16' Larson All-American.  In about 1975, I was about 14, and I saw her sitting, propped bow up, in our backyard, rotting away.  I asked, "Can I fix her up?"....  A month later, I pulled her out of the garage (now covered with red over-spray) and started learning Lake Minnetonka with my best friend.  I did a second paint job in 1990.  She's not original, doesn't have the 35 Johnson she came with, but there have been THOUSANDS of hours of enjoyment at Big Island and other lake hot-spots.

About Me

Recently out of boats and back into being a gear head. Miss the water skiing, etc. but unfortunately it takes at least 3 persons. Have 2 horses that we trail ride when we can find the time or on a rare occassion joust.

Back in the mid 70's to 1985 picked up an Aquabird that I dropped a 50 hp Evinrude V4 that had a seadrive on it. After having the shaft shortened took her out for skiing. Top speed was 36 mph but it could pull 4 skiiers! The transom was rotten (didn't know it at the time) and it cracked while out on an inlet by the Atlantic Ocean. Tore it completely down and rebuilt it from the ground up. Back then Sear's Roebuck had a boating catalog and all the lights, horn, windshield, etc. came from Sears. Was a nice boat, finally sold it after ordering a new 1986 Regal 185 Medallion with a 190 hp Mercruiser and Alpha 1 drive in January 1985. Took possession in June and kept her like new until early 2013. Miss that boat.

I own a 16' 1956 MFG  on the original Gator trailer.  Was my grandfathers back in Pittsfield, Ma. and am now taking it out of storage to Vermont to completely bring her back to life.  She's in awesome shape just some tlc and refinishing.  The chore will be to get the '56 johnson 18 running as well as the johnson 10.
